The Best Colorado Photo Locations for Family, Seniors, and Couples
One of the first questions I ask when someone books a session is, “What kind of vibe are you hoping for?”
And almost every time, I get some version of:
“Honestly… I have no idea. I just want it to be pretty.”
Which is SO fair, because choosing a photo location can feel weirdly stressful. Colorado has so many beautiful places, and it’s hard to know what will photograph well, what will be crowded, what will feel natural, and what will actually look good at sunset.
So I wanted to share a few of my absolute favorite locations that I recommend all the time. These are spots I love because they’re gorgeous, they photograph beautifully, and they make sessions feel relaxed and fun.
If you’re planning family photos, senior photos, couples photos, or even maternity pictures, these are some of my go-to favorites.
Fly’n B Park (Highlands Ranch)
Fly’n B Park is seriously such a hidden gem. It has the prettiest open space views and trails, and it feels really peaceful, which makes it such a great spot for sessions.
It’s one of those locations that gives you that “Colorado outdoors” look without needing to hike a mile or deal with a million people walking by. The light is beautiful here, the scenery is simple and clean, and it always turns out so dreamy.
No travel or permit fee.
Dawson Butte Open Space (Castle Rock)
If you want a location that makes people say “WOW” when they see your photos, this is the one.
Dawson Butte Open Space is honestly stunning. Every time I shoot here, clients end up telling me how much they love it and how they had no idea it existed. The views are wide open, the scenery feels very “Colorado,” and it looks amazing during golden hour.
It’s one of my favorite places for sessions that feel natural, timeless, and a little extra magical.
No travel or permit fee.
McCabe Meadows Park (Parker)
McCabe Meadows is such a cute little spot and it’s one of my most-used locations for a reason. It’s especially great for family sessions and senior photos because it has a little bit of everything.
You get trees, open fields, paths, and even a bridge. It’s also super easy to walk, which is always a win if you’re bringing kids, grandparents, or you just don’t want to feel like you’re on a workout during your photo session.
It’s simple, pretty, and always photographs so well.
No travel or permit fee.
Mt. Falcon West (Morrison)
If you want the full mountain vibe, Mt. Falcon West is the place.
This is ALWAYS my go-to when someone tells me they want mountains, views, and that dramatic Colorado scenery. It honestly feels like every direction you turn is a perfect photo spot. Golden hour and sunset here are unreal, and the backgrounds make photos look straight out of a movie.
It is a bit of a drive, but I’m not kidding when I say I have never had a client regret picking this location. It’s breathtaking.
Travel fee: $50
Permit fee: $25
17 Mile Farmhouse (Parker)
This spot is such a classic. It’s conveniently located in Parker, and it’s perfect if you want a cozy, simple location that still has a lot of variety.
There’s a farmhouse, pretty greenery, and a path lined with trees. And if you’re doing fall photos, this place is especially gorgeous when the leaves start changing.
It gives such a warm, timeless look and it’s great for families, couples, and seniors.
No travel or permit fee.
Not Sure Which One to Pick?
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Okay cool… but I still don’t know what I want,” don’t worry. That is literally why I’m here.
I help every client pick the perfect spot based on your session type, the season, the vibe you want, and even what you’re wearing. Some locations are better for certain times of year, and some work better depending on lighting and crowds.
So if you’re booking a session and want my honest recommendation, just ask. I will always point you in the right direction.
I can’t wait to photograph you at one of these beautiful places soon.
With love,
Allie
